INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
Our Year 6 competitors are nothing but smiles.
On the last day of Term 2, Friday 1 July 2022, students are encouraged to wear free dress or a themed outfit, e.g. pyjamas. We would love all those joining in to bring a gold coin donation. The money that the school raises will go to Telethon Kids Institute – who’s vision is to improve the health and well-being of children. Mount Hawthorn Primary would like to donate the money to help them do their great work, and give children life changing opportunities.
Therefore students are allowed to dress up in casual clothes. The gold coin donations will be given to the teacher then collected by the Student Councillors. Have a great holiday!

Places: Wadjemup – Rottnest
A few weeks ago the children had to draw a picture of a special place they like to visit with their families (HASS), Harry drew a picture of his family in Wadjemup – his drawing is above with his own words.
In March Harry’s family went to Wadjemup and his mum sent his teacher this message:
Harry very confidently told us that Rottnest is called Wadjemup and ‘that’s what it was called before the white people came’ – he’s already learning so much!
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured.
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the attached Fact Sheet for Parents, Guardians and Carers.
A few Year 6s have created papier-mache dog sculptures over the last term and bit. To celebrate, there will be a ‘Dog Show’ fundraiser in the Hangar at 8:30am on Monday 27 June 2022, Week 10Â Term 2. John Carey, Minister for Perth will be attending. People are invited to come along with a gold coin and vote for their favourite dog. All proceeds are going to the Shenton Park Dogs Refuge Home.
This is a reminder that the school’s ACROD bays are for ACROD permit holders only. These bays should not be used as a pick up or drop off bay, unless you hold an ACROD permit. Be aware that local rangers do check and issue infringements for any breaches. Please be considerate of the parents, students and visitors who need these bays more.
