From the Principal
Welcome to the 2022 school year. I hope that you and your family have had a fun and restful holiday and some quality time and experiences together. Thank you to all children, parents and staff who have said hello to me and made me feel welcomed and part of the Mount Hawthorn PS community.
We have an exciting term ahead of us and my aim as your new principal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and to hit the ground running supporting a highly successful school. I welcome our new staff and new students to the community. You will see me out and about around the school and I welcome the opportunity to say hello.
Our staff have worked hard for the past two days in planning and preparing for Term 1. It will be business as usual for Monday and we are open and safe for the whole community. I can assure you that swimming will be going ahead as well as all other planned events for Term 1 at this stage.
If you have any COVID related questions please check the department’s website in the first instance which contains all the information that you may need.
There will be a staggered start for K to Year 2, with the use of our school booking system. Year 3 to 6 parents are welcome to drop students at the classroom door, being conscious of social distancing.
Staff will also wear masks around the school, however when engaged in instruction, they can remove the masks as per the guidelines. There will also be extra cleaning for the start of the year.
I wish to reassure you that staff and student wellbeing is my priority.
