We are so very fortunate to live in a state in which we can hold Athletics Carnivals, Book Week parades and have parents visit classrooms and see the outstanding work being done by all the students. The atmosphere and the sense of community shone through this week and the Year 6 Leaders certainly led the school magnificently.
Whilst we continue to focus on the learning program we are also planning for the prospect of future lockdowns and the possibility of remote learning.
Many teachers have been trialling strategies and platforms with classes, in the case of extended lockdowns. We cannot control many of the variables and will be following Education Department guidelines. The School’s Board and P&C have been briefed.
Our school scooped the awards for the Year 5/6 division in a “Make Your Own Picture Book” competition, held state wide by the Children’s Book Council of WA.
1st place – Megan G from Room 22 , 2nd place – Charly P and Alicia and 3rd place – Walter G and Violet B.
On Tuesday we had our sports carnival. Each faction cheered well and had an excellent time. The races were very close, the competitors were all fair and everyone enjoyed the team sports. Each faction tried their very best but Axford just managed to win first place!
Altogether the day was fun and exciting and all the staff put their work together to make sure that everyone had fun and it was the best day ever!
Special thanks to Mrs Putt and Mrs Kenny.
Darcy and Annabelle, Year 4 Room 31

This event is always fun and we invite parents to come and enjoy the atmosphere on what we hope will be a beautiful sunny afternoon at Menzies.
The children and staff have begun their ‘Mt Hawthorn Masterpieces’ for the Art Auction, which will be held on school grounds on the evening of Friday, 12 November. This will be the P&C Adults social event for the year so make sure it’s on the calendar! (Full event details to follow)
Although the Art department has largely championed these works of art, the project still needs some parental assistance with the finalisation of these pieces. Please can you email mhpspc.events@gmail.com if you are able to donate some time in early Term 4 to this mammoth project.
As always, thanks in advance for your time and support!
