Congratulations to our Super Mathletes! These students have achieved the most points in Mathletics across their year level from Weeks 5-9 last term. They received a certificate of achievement and a trophy, which they will display in their classroom until it is passed on to the next Super Mathlete.

HOW DO I MEASURE UP?
The students in Year 3 Room 35 have been learning about measuring length as well as collecting, recording and analysing data. To tie all of this learning together and make a connection to the real world, we did an investigation where the students had to collect and compare their own body measurements in order to find relationships between various body parts, such as, “my arm span equals my height.”
After having heaps of fun measuring our partner and collecting the data, we analysed the results and found that there was a relationship between the length of our pinky, our ear and our nose! We were very excited to discover this.

CRUNCH N SIP
Take the veg pledge
Research shows that while most kids eat enough fruit, only 6% consume enough vegetables. Sending vegetables for Crunch&Sip® is a great way to develop healthy habits and boost this statistic!

WES Says: “We’re excited at MHPS!”
We are saving more items from the landfill, so let’s all get involved!
RECYCLE all our USED writing instruments @ MHPS
When your pens run out, pop them into this box. Currently located in the admin block, but more will be popping around our school.
Each year in Australia, over 140 million pens are sold, contributing approximately 700 tonnes of plastic waste to landfill sites across the nation.
PLASTIC BOTTLE TOPS
At MHPS we are passionate about looking after our Boodja (land). We know that our little people cannot stand by anymore while we do nothing! Our junior change makers are ready to show our school community the passion they have for sustainability. The Pre-primary koolingas (students) are joining forces with the rest of the school to make the world a cleaner and better place for all.
From next week, we will be collecting plastic container lids. These can either be brought in from home (please start bringing them in from Monday!) or found from items in their lunchboxes.
The Pre-primary students with their passionate teachers, will donate the lids to “Take 3 for the Sea.” Take 3 for the Sea is an organisation that aims to remove plastic pollution from the environment. They find innovative ways to reuse plastics.
We encourage all our MHPS moorts (families) and community members to be a part of the “Take 3 for the Sea Movement”.
Make it part of your family philosophy. Everyone is encouraged to take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or anywhere, and you will make a difference. Everyone has the power to act and create positive change, no matter where they are. We are excited to have our Pre-primary koolingas lead the school in this positive change.
Thanks for all your support, Miss Gil De Matos, Mrs Lewis- Russell and the WES team

Join Pippa.S, local Mount Hawthorn artist, for a beginner introductory class on abstract aerial. During the class we’ll explore how to convert aerial landscapes into simplified shapes, choose a cohesive colour pallet as well as explore the acrylic and chalk pastel mediums. By the end of the class you will walk away with a completed piece and the follow on knowledge to adapt aerial drone photographs into your own works of art.
