John Siamos, our outgoing School Board Chair has made an outstanding contribution over the past eight years advocating for the school community and lobbying for resources for the school.
John’s extensive experience and expertise on the Board has seen the group refine processes and have a significant impact into the working of the school. He has ensured the Education Support Centre is not a “bolt on” attachment, it is part of the fabric of our school.
Katherine Nash takes on the position of School Board Chair and has children in both MHPS and MHESC. Katharine has served on the Board for the past 4 years.
It was also great to see a number of new parents with students in the Early Childhood and Junior Primary attend Sub-committee meetings and we will be running an election for new Board members later in the year. If you have an interest and would like further information on the functions of the Board, Katherine and John would be more than happy to assist.
We are continually seeking feedback from the School Community about all aspects of our work at our school, which gives us ongoing data for the school’s self-assessment processes.
This Biannual Survey is a system requirement and probably wouldn’t be our choice as like you, I am bombarded by surveys that seem to be never ending.
That being said, we will use the data and it will inform discussion and shape decisions by Staff, the School Board and P&C with results communicated to the school community. So get on board as your feedback is valued!
Volunteers are an essential part of the operations at our school and they enable the staff to get on with the job of driving the teaching program. The list is endless of the largely silent army who assist and volunteer expertise and time to support all the children at our school.
It is also a really powerful message for children when they observe their parents giving back to the community through school, sports or other community programs.
The digital technologies team would like to extend their thanks to Karmjit K and Kieran C (Year 4 Room 32) for assisting in updating and organising our tablets for the junior classes. The help is greatly appreciated and will assist students using the devices to complete learning experiences using apps and programs the teachers have chosen for individual year levels.
On behalf of our students we would also like to thank Kelli and Luke Howe for their generous contribution to our school. You are fabulous community members supporting your Year 1 daughter Lia, and all her friends with some fun resources. We would like to thank you so much for your outstanding donation of sandpit toys and craft supplies for the Kindy and Junior Primary.
