Wishing all our families a wonderful holiday break. Enjoy the sunshine (and wear sunscreen), play in the park, stay safe and have fun! At the end of the day your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling!
A reminder to parents that Monday 14 October is a School Development Day, we look forward to our students returning to school for the commencement of Term 4 on Tuesday 15 October 2019.
We will continue with our current school procedures with Lost Property in Term 4 as we have seen some positive results with students taking responsibility for their belongings. The P&C have offered to implement the following process to deal with unclaimed uniform items.
A nominated Year group of students will collect all lost property items from around the school once per week and deliver them to the Uniform Shop on Tuesday afternoons for parents to look through.
Labelled stock will be delivered to the classroom with the Qkr uniform orders when the volunteers have time. Any unlabelled items which have not been claimed will be washed and sold as secondhand stock.
YEAR 2 AND 6 BUDDY DAY
Rooms 7 and 19 got together for a “Grow Your Mind Day” where we focussed on mindfulness and ways to look after our mental health to keep us happy, healthy and strong mentally.
We started with some Zumba as physical exercise is good for mental health. We followed this with some rotational activities including a gratitude tree, breathe easy jars, mindful colouring, wrote a procedure with ingredients needed to grow a healthy mind, created our mind face picture with “I am” branches and seeds representing our aspirations. We also enjoyed a joint lunch at Braithwaite Park then returned to school for some mindful breathing exercises.
Emma French and Emily Reeve – Year 7 and 2 Teachers
YEAR 1 YOGA
Room 1 was lucky enough to win a competition with YOGAZOO! YOGAZOO runs yoga and mindfulness programs across Perth schools. The children wrote a letter to YOGAZOO about why they thought yoga at school would be good. The children came up with some brilliant ideas including chillaxing, exercise and fun! The yoga teacher, Michelle got the children moving, dancing and relaxing. It was a great way for the children to tap into mindfulness through self-expression and slowing down.

Both ensembles played to such a high standard which was beyond their years and were directed by the amazing Mr Dale Pointon and Mrs Andrea Carter. After their performances, both ensembles had the opportunity to do a workshop with an esteemed conductor from America who was impressed by the skill level of our students. Congratulations to the students, Mr Pointon and Mrs Carter. A big thanks to the parents for your ongoing support of our music program.
