Once again our Year 6 leaders have led the school fantastically in a great athletics carnival in terms of sportsmanship, fun, dancing and the Mount Hawthorn culture we have grown to love. Hats off to the amazing work of Mrs Putt, Mrs Kenny and all the teachers who trained the students for the events. I would like to thank the parent volunteers who helped set up, and also a number of our teaching staff as well. The P&C’s ongoing support in organising the cupcake stalls which enhance the community feel of these events. There was some really strong competition and we are looking forward to our team providing some tough competition at the Interschool Carnival on 16 and 25 September at Floreat. TOURNAMENT OF MINDS
This year Mount Hawthorn entered two teams in the Tournament of Minds (TOMs). TOMs offers teams of students the opportunity to solve authentic, open-ended challenges that foster creative, divergent thinking whilst developing excellence and teamwork. Our Mount Hawthorn teams entered the STEM division. Both teams performed exceptionally well with our school receiving an honours award.
Congratulations to our TOMs superstars!

September 12, 2019 is ‘R U OK Day’ It is about making sure we are all connected and protected from suicide. The day is about being supportive and being there for others when they are struggling.
You don’t need to be an expert to reach out – just a good friend and a great listener.
