FACTION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Athletics week was really successful and again well organised by Mrs Putt and Mrs Kenny. I would like to congratulate all the students, who were ably led by the Year 6 student leaders. There was a great community feel to the day and it was enjoyed by students, teachers and parents. I really appreciate the parents who helped on the day with setting and packing up; their help was invaluable. It was also fantastic to see the return of the cupcake stall and I would like to thank the P&C for coordinating it.
RAC LITTLE LEGENDS CLUB
Information will be sent out to all families about a program for students in Year 1 to 6, which parents can sign up to through the RAC. The Little Legends Club will complement programs being taught throughout the year levels and is pertinent for all students in the neighbourhood. The school also has an opportunity to win $ 5000 worth of invaluable resources for the school, so I encourage as many families as possible to sign up.
THANKS
To all the parents who volunteered their time and expertise to coach and manage all the teams involved in winter sports. It has been fantastic to see the training which has concentrated on skill development, participation and fun. Our focus should always be on having children continue participating in sport in their teenage years and beyond.
FRIENDSHIP GARDEN FUNDING
The school and P&C have committed to funding the project which has caused some discussion in relation to the cost of the project.
The garden was designed to be an integral part of our grounds and fits into our values and virtues program. Students have had input and will also participate in the final components for the project.
The school and Department of Education is continually funding the maintenance of classrooms and will be putting over $40 000 into classroom furniture this year. This funding will be ongoing throughout the next few years.
MATERNITY LEAVE
Fiona Oates from our Administration office will be commencing Maternity Leave on Thursday, 10 September, and we wish her all the best for her pending arrival.
We would like to welcome Linda Gennoe (full time) and Silvana Galluzzo (Wednesday and Thursday) to the office during Fiona’s absence.
EARN AND LEARN
The Woolworth’s Earn n Learn promotion ended on Tuesday, 8 September. Please ensure all stickers have been placed on the correct sticker sheet and sent into the school by Friday, 11 September. We have had an amazing response from parents in the collation process. We will require some more helpers to count the sticker sheets next week so we can redeem for resources by Monday, 5 October. If you are available to assist please call into the front office. Thank you kindly, Lorena Rock
