School Newsletter – 23 September 2015
Principal’s Message
I had the pleasure of attending the WAGSMS Crown Concert on Monday night, which showcased the amazing talent in public schools, and in particular, Mount Hawthorn Primary School. The Orchestra, Choir and soloists, which included Stephen, Patrick, Ben, Caitlin and Zoe, performed magnificently. We are very fortunate to have Mrs Mears, Mrs Hardman and Mrs Symington leading the music program. The staff also relies on an outstanding team of parent volunteers, who are vital for success of the program.
Term 4 promises to be very exciting and busy with many school events including the Community Fair, School Open Morning, Edu-Dance and graduation celebrations for Year 6. I would like to wish all our families and community a safe and restful term break. I look forward to seeing you return to school on Tuesday, 13 October (Monday, 12 October is a School Development Day).

Classrooms open: 8:00am – 9:00am
Music Performances 9:00am – 9:30am

A reminder that this is not a time to talk to the teachers. Please make an appointment with the classroom teacher if you wish to discuss any aspects of your child’s education.
HATS FOR TERM 4
Term 4 is fast approaching and so it is time to revisit the schools sun smart policy. All children are required to wear a wide brimmed hat at all times in the playground during Term 4 and Term 1. Children not following the sun smart policy will have to remain in the shade for the duration of their recess and lunch breaks. Hats are available in a range of sizes through the Uniform Service. We thank you for your compliance in this matter.
EDU-DANCE
During Term 4, students from Pre-primary to Year 6 enjoy weekly sessions of contemporary dance provided by the Edu-Dance company. The program runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from Week 1 to Week 8 and culminates with a series of brilliant performances for parents in Week 9.
EARN N LEARN
A huge thank you to the Mount Hawthorn Community for the support given to the Woolworths Earn n Learn promotion. We are pleased to announce we received a total of 984 sheets which accounts to 59,040 points. This far exceeds our target of 55,000. All of this would not have been possible without some very dedicated and helpful parents who assisted with the collation and collection. The school (Main campus and Education Support Centre) is looking forward to the opportunity to redeem the points for a huge range of resources to support and enhance the teaching and learning programs.
