WELCOME BACK
Welcome back for Term 3. This is a very busy term packed full of activities, particularly with the Faction Athletics Carnival on Thursday, 3 September and many music performances, including the Crown Concert on the evening of Monday, 21 September.
The band camp was a huge success and I would like to thank Caz Shurmer, Cass Lake, Steph Glynn, Lisa Gleeson and all the parent helpers. Also, SIM teachers Barbara Symington, who wrote a piece of music for the band and orchestra to perform together and Dale Pointon for their efforts to make it such a success. They are looking for a Year 5 parent to volunteer to run the camp for 2016.
We are also getting very excited about the School Fair on Saturday, 7 November. Shari and many parents and teachers are already working hard to make it another brilliant day.
SCHOOL SURVEYS
During the course of the year we conduct small specific topic surveys with our parents and students, which gives us timely and relevant feedback on current topics. The Department of Education also requires that we give parents and students the opportunity to complete a National Survey. As we had a very small number of parents participate last year, we have been asked to conduct this survey again. I would encourage all parents to take a few moments to provide feedback via this survey PLEASE. To complete the survey please click HERE.
TERM ACCOUNTS
Thank you to those families who have paid their Term Accounts promptly. There are a number of families who have not made payment for the Voluntary School and P&C Contributions; we are happy to accept payment via credit card (Visa or Mastercard), cash or cheque at the school office. Payment of these contributions allows us to provide the excellent range of learning programs available to students at our school.
ITALIAN VISITORS
We are pleased to welcome an Italian Language Assistant, Elisa Giannoni, working with Signora Monisse in language classes for all of term 3. Elisa is from Milan and is a student at La Cattolica University.
Despite the wet and windy weather yesterday, our Year 3 to 6 students delighted in viewing an Italian drama performance by Christof from Nexus Arts.
CHIROPRACTOR PARKING
Parents, please refrain from parking in the Chiropractor’s carpark on Scarborough Beach Road when delivering and collecting children from school. This is a private carpark for business customers only.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW
Congratulations ex-students Sam Koczwara, Ashby Dennis and Keegan Davies who were selected for State U18 Lacrosse Team.
INTERSCHOOL SELECTION POLICY
Students are selected for Interschool competition according to the attached policy.
RISK MANAGMENT: EPIPENS IN SCHOOL BAGS
It has come to our attention that students may have a second EpiPen in their school bag. As this is a poison and could be accessed by other students that do not understand this, we ask that parents ensure all EpiPens are secured through the school or with the classroom teacher each day. Many thanks for your consideration. Louise Swain, Associate Principal
