Principal’s Message

Milan and Cameron

BRAITHWAITE PARK PLAY SPACE
The new playground will be an asset to the community and I would like to congratulate the City of Vincent for prioritising the needs of children. Some of our students from last year had significant input into the design, represented by Milan and Cameron. They enjoyed the honour of being among the first to ride the Flying Fox, along with Ella from Year 5 and Tallan from Year 6. It’s up to all families to ensure the behaviour of their children mirrors the high expectations we have here at school.

Year 6 Camp

YEAR 6 CAMP
It was a pleasure to attend the three day camp to Woodman Point. Eighty one students participated in various team building activities, the favourite being “Escape From Quarantine” at night. I would like to thank all the staff members who volunteered their time, including our Year 6 teachers and Prac students.

AFL GOALS
The new AFL goals are installed thanks to the hard work of the P&C, with a number of contenders for the goal of the year. Hopefully, the addition will ensure Mount Hawthorn Primary School encourages many future Eagles and Dockers superstars!

REPORTS
Semester reports will be handed out in the last week of term. They will provide a summary of your child’s achievement, attitude, behaviour, effort and progress in personal and social learning.

SIGN IN AND OUT BOOK
We have a new system for collecting children during the school day or bringing them in late. You need to fill in the book in the Admin office, and take the yellow copy to the teacher.

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY
Monday, 20 July
is a Professional Learning day for teachers, so students do not attend school. The staff will participate in programs with a focus on writing, which is one of our priorities. Many will also continue the English learning modules they have been completing over the past two weeks.

USE OF SCHOOL GROUNDS
We have experienced some vandalism at school recently, therefore children using the school grounds and play equipment out of school hours must be accompanied by their parents. If you notice anyone misusing the school premises, please call School Watch 1800 177 777. Skateboards are not to be used on the school premises.

WA EDUCATION AWARDS
Celebrate our schools and the inspirational people who work in them by nominating them for a WA Education Award. Nominations close on Friday, 21 August 2015.

EpiPen

RISK MANAGMENT: EPIPENS IN SCHOOL BAGS
It has come to our attention, that students may have a second EpiPen in their school bag. As this is a poison and could be accessed by other students that do not understand this, we ask that parents ensure all EpiPens are secured through the school or with the classroom teacher each day.
Many thanks for your consideration. Louise Swain, Associate Principal

NATIONAL COLLECTION OF DATA
The government needs to collect information about the number of children who have a disability, what programs are currently being provided for them and what this will mean for resourcing in the future. We will include information about your child, or children, in the project. If you do not want us to include information, please sign the attached form and return it by Wednesday, 29 July. If you do not return the attached form, you are authorising us to include your child/children’s information in the data collection. Louise Swain, Associate Principal
