School Newsletter – 27 May 2015

Principal’s Message

Sometimes we have the problem of deciding what to leave out of the newsletter after another action packed two weeks at the busiest school in the state. Vicki works hard to update the school website and App, with pictures and stories of all events that support our school programs. The website should be the first port of call for information and lots of fantastic pictures of the programs in action, including Room 7 Day Spa and Pasta Making.

Yr 6 Public Speaking Comp

YEAR 6 SPEECHES
One of the distinctive programs for our Year 6 Leaders is the public speaking competition, with fifteen students participating in the final last Friday. All the presentations were of a very high standard and were entertaining and informative. I would like to congratulate the following students:
1st place – Sarah, 2nd place – Sophie and 3rd place – Estelle and Maitland (joint 3rd place).
Sarah will now be invited to represent our school in an inter school competition later in the year.

LIAISON PARENTS
Due to the sheer volume of communications received by all families, and to ensure all parents are given consistent information, we will include feedback from the Liaison Parent Briefings in the newsletter each term. The following points were discussed at last week’s meetings:

  • The Business Plan, which outlines the strategic direction of the school for the next three years, is in the final stages of editing by the Schools Board. It will be sent out to parents before the end of this term.
  • Feedback from the Interview Day conducted this term was largely positive with the school taking on suggestions for 2016.
  • A representative from the Liaison Parent group will work with the school to review the preferred booklist supplier for 2016.
  • The school has implemented a new process for signing students out throughout the school day. After signing students out at the office, you will be given a slip to hand to the teacher.
  • The P&C has funded the installation of AFL goals. They have been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible (before the cricket season).

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS
Thank you to those families who have paid the Voluntary Contributions for 2015, so far we have received  74 %. If you haven’t paid the $60.00 school contribution or $70.00 for the P&C we are gratefully accepting these payments at the office.
