Schools Board Elections

Expressions Of Interest open 16 February 2018

IMPORTANT DATES:

Nominations: 16/02/2018 to 02/03/2018

Elections (if required):  05/03/2018 to 16/03/2018

The Mount Hawthorn Schools Board is a joint board and was established in 2012 following Mount Hawthorn Primary School and the Mount Hawthorn Education Support Centre gaining the status of Independent Public Schools.

Over the past six years the Schools Board has been integral in shaping the strategic direction of the school and ensuring the core values and beliefs of the community are in built into our decision making.

Since the school gained IPS status we have benefited by having parents with a variety of skills, working collectively to maximise opportunities for all students at Mount Hawthorn Primary School. The election process is an opportunity for parents to be a part of the new three year plan and further adding value to the programs in place at our school.

The Schools Board is governed by the School Education Act 1999 and by it’s “Terms of Reference“.  Board members are also required to observe the Board’s “Code of Conduct“.

The Board’s role is required to help the Schools deliver a quality education experience to our children by:

  • establishing and reviewing the goals, priorities and policies of the Schools;
  • planning for and approving School budgets;
  • evaluating the performance of our Schools in achieving the goals set; and
  • promoting our Schools within community

The 2017 IPS Review is an impressive reflection of the collective work of members of the Schools Board and will provide potential candidates a comprehensive summary. I would be happy to be contacted by any interested parents should you wish to discuss further.
